Demo Swap Cards

At our team meetings and demonstrator only stamp camps we swap cards as well. (Well, I guess I shouldn’t say ‘we’ because ‘I’ didn’t participate these last two times – sorry girls!! I promise I will next time!
)
Anyway, I thought I’d share with you the work of one of our newer demonstrators, Tracy H. She is so crazy excited to be a demonstrator and in love with SU! (and why shouldn’t she be???) and her enthusiasm is contagious!! And her cards are fantastic!! Here are two of them:
That Dasher stamp ($8.95) stamp is so cute and I’ve seen so many cute cards and projects created with it that I think it is now on the top of my wish list! LOL Isn’t her layout clever?? I bet you could think of many pieces of designer series paper that you’d like to showcase both sides of, right?!?!
And another of Tracy’s creations:

Now if you look in the catalog on page 23 you’ll see the below card. Now Tracy was feeling a little bad saying she ‘copied’ out of the catalog for her swap. And my response??? WHY???? NO NEED to feel bad about ‘copying’ out of the catalog or copying anyone else for that matter. Couple thoughts on that: Copying is a form of flattery. Who doesn’t like to see someone ‘copying’ a style, trend, etc. of theirs? And we like to call copying ‘CASE-ing’ in the stamping world. CASE stands for "copy and share everything"… it’s such a common practice that it has its own acronym!!! Also, that’s what the catalog is for!! It’s not just for ordering out of, it’s for inspiration of ideas, color combinations, layouts, and more! I think it’s great and personally prefer Tracy’s version to the catalog one!
What do you all think? Would love to read your thoughts (with a comment on this post) on not just Tracy’s card but CASE-ing as well!

I think Tracy’s card is really cute — and I prefer it to the catalog version, too!
I “CASE” constantly, so I’m glad it’s accepted and even encouraged! A lot of my favorite creations have used a layout or color combination from the SU! catalog and a lot of times if I want to use a particular stamp set, but can’t figure out quite what to do with it, I turn to the catalog first to see what they did with it.
